Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Steeve,
Hope you are doing great. Last saturday, I attend your 'world music tour series' concert at Scotiabank arena in downtown Toronto.
I must say it was one of the best music performance I ever see in my life. The sound effects, your interaction with the audience, your ability to change lyrics through the show was amazing. The most amazing part me is how you interact with people those were present there by listening to their music demands, maintaining the atmosphere thrilling all the time.
I also want to let you know that I am also very inclined to music. It o my favourite hobby since childhood. I took part in many musical competitions during my study period. I still listens to all type of music like hip hop, Jazz, Classical and beat music. My favourite musical instrument is guitar. I love to play it whenever I get free time.
And I want to request you to tell me some good music academies to attend in GTA area so that I can enhance my skills in this form of art. It would be great help from you to help me go up in this field. I hope you will consider my request and share me the details of some musical institutions. I look forward to hear from you

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly expressed your feelings about the concert, provided relevant details about your musical background, and made a specific request for advice on music academies. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a performer, and the purpose of the communication is clear throughout. To improve, you could expand slightly more on the 'musical activities' section by describing a specific achievement or a particular challenge you have faced, which would add more depth to your ideas and better satisfy the requirement for fully developed points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'I also want to let you know' and 'It would be great help', to transition between points. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the transition between your personal musical history and the request for advice is smoother. Overall, the structure is clear and effective.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'thrilling', 'inclined', and 'institutions'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'change lyrics' (perhaps you meant 'improvise' or 'adapt') and 'share me the details' (should be 'share the details with me'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations and less common lexical items would help elevate your score. For instance, instead of 'good music academies', you could use 'reputable music conservatories'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'I attend' (should be 'I attended'), 'one of the best music performance' (should be 'performances'), and 'I still listens' (should be 'I still listen'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
