Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sidhu Moosewala,

I am writing this letter to you to express my feeling about your recent recent concert which was held in my city Brampton on 25 July 2026.

I admires you since you released your fist song 'High talks' because this song make your very big follower. As your vocal and lyrics are great in all songs. these things made to attend your concert.

It was my dream to see you singing live. Fortunately, your this concert made my dream true. I can not express my feelings about this performance in words, I was over the moon. One thing which lured me in this event was combination of traditional and modern musical instruments and no doubt your voice.

Actually my desire is also to be a singer. I want to request you to teach me not only how you compose the both traditional and modern music but also how you create the whole environment so energetic.

I hope you will consider my request.

Yours faithfully

jug Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly expressed your feelings about the performance, mentioned your own musical aspirations, and made a specific request for guidance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a singer, although the development of your musical activities is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that your personal musical background is described with more detail, perhaps by mentioning specific instruments you play or how long you have been practicing, which would provide a more comprehensive response to the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the concert experience to your personal goals. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Actually' and 'I hope', which help the flow. However, the paragraphing is a bit disjointed, and the transition between your feelings about the concert and your own musical ambitions could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words or phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') would help to connect your ideas more effectively and improve the overall structure of the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, using phrases like 'over the moon' and 'lured me'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'I admires you' (should be 'I have admired you') and 'made my dream true' (should be 'made my dream come true'). There are also some spelling errors, such as 'fist' instead of 'first'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your verb forms are consistent with the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'your this concert' (should be 'this concert of yours'), 'I admires you', and 'compose the both traditional and modern music'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are areas that need attention. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense consistency and article placement will help you achieve a higher band.
