Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear hustinder,
I am writing this letter to inform you that how much I enjoy in your concert that held on last weekend and want to tell you what I feel and observe there.
I was so excited for your performance from the day before concert and to watched you in-person. Your voice is amazing and I really like the way you connected with the audience. Your are the highlight of that evening. I also like the way you make the people to dance.
I Also have interest in music activities. I really like to write songs and sing them but I am so introvert so I get nervous in front of people . That’s why I never try to do more or to enhance my Music skill.
I would like you to help me to learn more about music and music instruments. I also want to know how you build confidence to sing in front crowd and how you feel when you are in between audience.
Thank you for inspiring me with you excellent performance.
Your faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly express your feelings about the performance, describe your musical interests, and explain how you would like the singer to assist you. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a performer, and the purpose is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could provide more specific details about the 'musical activities' you engage in, such as the genre of songs you write or the specific instruments you play, to make the content more engaging and substantial.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices like 'That’s why' and 'I also' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') to create a smoother progression of ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the overall structure is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'performance', 'audience', 'highlight', and 'inspiring'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'inform you that how much I enjoy' (should be 'tell you how much I enjoyed') and 'in between audience' (should be 'among the audience'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, incorporating more precise adjectives and collocations related to music and performance would elevate your writing to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'concert that held on last weekend' (should be 'that was held'), 'to watched you' (should be 'to watch you'), and 'Your are the highlight' (should be 'You are'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of the writing. Focusing on proofreading for basic verb forms and tense consistency will help improve your score.
