Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Zayn Malik
I hope you are doing well in your life, I'm Kashish your biggest fan. I attended your one direction concert which happened in cyberhub last week.
I really like your team but you are my favorite among all. Your performance and dance while singing is commendable, that shows you are multi-talented.
The music your team is playing is very catchy though it's hard rock music. On the other hand, I truely appreciate your team co-ordination and planning. As an audience I'm aware that whole team of yours is very hard working.
Though I like your musical team but there are some suggestions which I would like give you such as you and your team always work on hard rock music but you can also use music according to the trends. I know your music team is very good and you can try some other tones or tunes. If you need some help on music I would also like to help you as I'm also from music background.
Looking forward for your response.
Thank You
Kashish

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You expressed your feelings about the performance, mentioned your musical background, and explained how you would like the singer to help you. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For example, when you mention your 'musical background,' you do not specify what instruments you play or what your experience is, which makes the request for help feel a bit vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are more fully extended with specific details that make the letter feel more authentic and purposeful.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'Though,' but the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. The transition between your praise for the concert and your suggestions for the singer's music style is a little abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Words like 'commendable,' 'multi-talented,' and 'co-ordination' are used appropriately. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'truely' (truly) and 'music background' (which should be 'musical background'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would elevate the tone of the letter to a higher band level. Focus on using more precise collocations to describe your musical interests.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'I attended your one direction concert which happened in cyberhub' (missing capitalization for proper nouns) and 'I would like give you' (missing 'to'). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as comma splices in the first paragraph. To improve, focus on ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly and that you proofread for small omissions like prepositions or articles.
