Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well! I am writing this letter to express my love towards your singing skills. Me and my friends attend this concert in which lots of singers came than I told them I don't think so it will be worth it as I never went on these type of concerts but really it was so good that if there will be any show in future even anywhere in the world in which you will come I will definitely come.
I like to play the guitar even I won silver medal from singing on the state level. Therefore, you become great inspiration for me l learn lots of things from you in that concert. Currently, 1 am performing in the small cafes where people love me a lot.
I would really appreciate it if you will give me some guidance on music so I can improve my music skills. If you schedule allows you can send you my audio clips as well.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Warm Regards,
Sukhan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the task requirements by expressing feelings about the singer's performance and outlining personal musical activities. However, it lacks clarity in connecting these ideas effectively. For example, the phrase "I told them I don't think so it will be worth it" is unclear and detracts from the overall message. The request for help is present but could be more specific.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Coherence and cohesion are somewhat lacking, as the ideas do not flow well from one to the next. For instance, the transition from discussing the concert to personal achievements is abrupt. Phrases like "if there will be any show in future even anywhere in the world" should be restructured for clarity. Using cohesive devices more effectively would improve the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The lexical resource is limited, with repetitive and informal language. Phrases like "you become great inspiration for me" could be improved to express ideas more formally. Additionally, there are several spelling errors, such as "1 am" instead of "I am" and "you will come" instead of "you come," indicating a lack of precision in vocabulary use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
Grammatical range and accuracy are inconsistent. While some sentences are correctly formed, others show noticeable errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues and incorrect verb forms. For example, "Me and my friends attend this concert" should be "My friends and I attended this concert". These errors affect the clarity and professionalism of the letter.
Overall feedback
The letter does show an understanding of the task requirements, with an expression of admiration for the singer and a request for guidance in musical activities. However, improvement is needed in structure, coherence, and formal language. Focusing on clear transitions between thoughts, maintaining a formal tone, and correcting grammatical errors will enhance communication. Practicing these aspects in future writing tasks will help express ideas more clearly and effectively. Additionally, reviewing vocabulary to use more appropriate terms will elevate the response further.
