Student answer (Band 7.5)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to express my happiness that I was able to attend the Winter Music Festival. I believe I was lucky enough to witness your singing live in the concert.

Your performance was electrifying. I was sitting in the front row and watching your musical performances from this close was an emotional moment for me. Since my college days I am listening and dancing to your beats.

Currently I am pursuing a singing course from the National Institute of Music. I usually sing and write romantic songs and perform in various restaurants to boost my confidence. Moreover, these performances also help me to earn some money which I use for my musical expenditures.

I would like to request you to help me by accepting my application to enroll in your prestigious musical camp. That camp is home to the best musical talent from across the country. Staying and learning under your guidance will help me elevate my musical journey to a multiple genres.

Hoping for prompt consideration.

Yours faithfully,

Achin Pal

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'electrifying', 'pursuing', and 'prestigious' appropriately. There is a good awareness of style, and your word choices are generally precise. While there are no major errors, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or idiomatic expressions related to music would help elevate the response further. Overall, the vocabulary is more than adequate for the task and conveys your message clearly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures with good control. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'Since my college days I am listening' (should be 'I have been listening') and 'elevate my musical journey to a multiple genres' (should be 'to multiple genres'). However, these errors are infrequent and do not impede communication. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and your punctuation is generally accurate throughout the letter.
