Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt, which is a positive start. You expressed your feelings about the concert, mentioned your musical activities, and requested help. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your musical activities, you do not specify what these activities are (e.g., playing an instrument or singing), making the request for help vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed with specific details rather than general statements. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a singer, although the opening 'Dear, singers' is slightly unnatural.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In Addition to that', and 'Moreover', although some of these are used slightly mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'Moreover to that'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from talking about your musical activities to commenting on the singer's clothing is quite abrupt. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some descriptive language like 'amazing' and 'funky', which fits the context of a fan letter. However, there is a lack of variety, and some word choices are imprecise or incorrect, such as 'in arranged in my cities' and 'that all songs i was really happy to heard'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of vocabulary to include more sophisticated expressions related to music and performance would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'your concert in arranged'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'happy to heard'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization errors, such as the lowercase 'i' used throughout the letter. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction, tense consistency, and proofreading for small errors would significantly improve your accuracy.
