Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: expressing feelings about the performance, describing your musical activities, and requesting help. However, the development of these points is quite limited. For example, your request for help is vague ('help to you about musical rules'), and your description of your musical activities lacks specific detail. To improve, you should expand on your ideas with more descriptive language and specific examples. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter, though the lack of a formal name for the singer makes the opening slightly awkward. Ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is organised into short paragraphs, which is a good start. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed due to a lack of cohesive devices. You rely heavily on simple sentences and lack transition words to link your thoughts (e.g., 'so', 'because', 'when'). The punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and missing capital letters, which makes the text harder to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences more fluidly and improve the overall flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express your thoughts precisely. Phrases like 'I loved very much' and 'incredible moment' are used, but there is little evidence of less common or more sophisticated vocabulary. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'i have lone with music' (likely meaning 'I am alone with music' or 'I love music') and 'musical rules' (which is not a standard term for music theory or technique). To improve, try to incorporate more specific musical terminology and avoid repeating simple adjectives like 'incredible'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('i was reached', 'i was not listened'), missing articles, and a consistent failure to capitalise the pronoun 'I'. Your sentence structures are mostly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. When you do attempt more complex ideas, the grammar often breaks down. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and consistent verb tense usage. Proofreading your work to ensure that 'I' is always capitalised and that sentences are properly punctuated will significantly improve your score.
