Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly express your appreciation for the singer's performance, describe your own musical background (folk, classical, ghazals), and propose a collaboration. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited by the informal and repetitive tone. The request for collaboration is a bit vague, and the tone is inconsistent with a formal letter to a professional artist. To improve, ensure your ideas are expanded with more specific details and maintain a more professional, polite tone throughout the letter to better suit the context of writing to a public figure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure of your request. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'actully' is used multiple times as a filler). The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by frequent grammatical errors that make it difficult to follow your train of thought. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences and paragraphs more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express your thoughts with precision. Phrases like 'what a voice' and 'what a words' are informal and grammatically incorrect. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'erlier', 'onestly spiking', 'informetion', and 'sincererly'. While you do attempt to name specific musical genres like 'folk music' and 'ghazals', the overall range is insufficient for a higher band score. Focus on learning more sophisticated adjectives to describe your feelings and professional terminology for your musical activities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. You struggle with verb tenses ('i am singing not only songs i am singing folk music'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'i want to ask you about my singing activities, actully i am also singer'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters and incorrect comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors in tense and word order.
