Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points, but the development of ideas is somewhat illogical. While you describe your feelings about the performance and your musical activities, the third point—asking the singer to help you—is misinterpreted. You offer advice to the singer instead of asking for his help, which deviates from the prompt's requirement. Additionally, the tone is inconsistent for a formal or semi-formal letter to a performer, and the lack of proper paragraphing makes the structure feel rushed. To improve, ensure you carefully read the prompt to understand the relationship requested between the writer and the recipient.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas in a formal letter. The flow of information is disjointed, and there is a heavy reliance on simple conjunctions like 'and' to connect ideas. Cohesive devices are largely absent, making the transition between your musical activities and the advice you provide feel abrupt. To reach a higher band, you must use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the body points, and the closing, and incorporate a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to guide the reader through your letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple descriptors like 'amazing' and 'good'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'fascinating my brother' (which is grammatically and semantically incorrect) and 'watch environment'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to everyday language. To improve, try to use more precise adjectives and collocations related to music and performances, such as 'captivating', 'vocal range', or 'musical repertoire', and ensure you use words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding sentence structure and punctuation. Many sentences are run-on, lacking necessary full stops or commas, such as 'It was amazing and I enjoyed a lot and there lots of singers are there'. There are also errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'my brother also love your voice' and 'while music was playing'. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and using punctuation to separate distinct thoughts.
