Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions well. You successfully mention how you feel about the singer's performance by stating it was an 'incredible experience' and that his song 'touches my soul every time.' You provide clear details of your musical activities, explaining that you love singing and perform your songs at family get-togethers, friends' gatherings, and university functions. Furthermore, you explain how you would like him to help you by asking for guidance on how to start singing and become a good singer based on his experiences. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the tone is appropriate for writing to a singer you admire. Ideas are sufficiently developed and relevant throughout the letter, earning a solid score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organised into distinct paragraphs with a clear beginning, middle, and end, following the standard conventions of informal letter writing. There is a logical progression as you move from your feelings about the concert to your own musical activities and finally to your request for help. However, there are some limitations in the use of cohesive devices and referencing. For example, expressions like 'In the last' are unnatural compared to standard alternatives like 'Lastly' or 'Before I finish', and referencing is sometimes slightly faulty, such as in the phrase 'I listened all your albums.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas, but greater flexibility in cohesive links would be needed for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common and topic-specific items such as 'passionate', 'compliment', and 'professional'. However, there are several lexical errors and awkward word choices that detract from precision. For instance, 'doind' instead of 'doing', 'singinf' instead of 'singing', and 'persue' instead of 'pursue' show spelling inaccuracies. Additionally, phrasing like 'I listened all your albums' misses a preposition ('listened to'), and 'I am taking these comment' contains a pluralisation error. While communication is never impeded, these frequent minor slips prevent the lexical score from reaching the higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, successfully using subordinate clauses such as 'when I listen that, it touches my soul every time' and 'I appreciate if you could guide me'. However, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation inaccuracies throughout the text. Examples include 'I hope you are doind well, I am writing' (comma splice), 'I listened all your albums', and 'recent concert, that i had attended' (unnecessary comma and lowercase 'i'). Punctuation and article use are occasionally faulty, such as missing articles before nouns or incorrect comma placement. These errors occur regularly across the text, though they rarely impede the reader's overall understanding.
