Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Diljit,
Yesterday, I have been throught your concert, it was wonderfull performance by you and your band. it was my favorite part when you sung "Channa Mere Ya" song. i was there with my school friend khushi. and we enjoied a lot yesterday,
i just want you to know that you are the best, and my most favorite singer of all time. Even, my father is also your die-heart fan. The song "Dilruba" its his most favorite song of all time, and another thing is that my Father loved to play your song while, he is driving.
Diljit your way of being star from the stone is so much inspirational for me, i know that you were singing a song at birthday parties, widdings and other small parties, and to day you are performing in the world's biggest stadium. Under your influance many singers started their journey from beginning. and i heard that you helped them a lot to take them to the big stage.
your always inspering me Diljit, thank you for those songs which you gave us. glad to have such a singer like you.
regards,
Vraj (biggest fan)

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You successfully covered all parts of the letter prompt. You described your feelings about the performance, mentioning specific songs like 'Channa Mere Ya' and 'Dilruba', and explained how much you and your family enjoy his music. However, while you mentioned his inspirational journey from small parties to the world's biggest stadium and his help for other singers, you did not clearly explain how you would like him to help you with your own musical activities, which is a key requirement of the task. Because of this missing detail, the response is partially underdeveloped in terms of task fulfillment. Therefore, this warrants a band score of 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter follows a clear friendly structure with an appropriate opening and closing. You attempted to organise your thoughts into paragraphs, moving from the concert experience to family appreciation and then his inspirational career. However, the logical progression is hindered by choppy sequencing, faulty punctuation, and the lack of cohesive devices between sentences. For instance, sentences like 'i was there with my school friend khushi. and we enjoied a lot yesterday,' show weak structural linking and improper capitalisation. Paragraphing is present, but overall cohesion is mechanical and repetitive. This aligns with the descriptors for a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary includes some nice attempts at expressive language, such as 'die-heart fan' (though technically 'die-hard'), 'inspirational', and 'world's biggest stadium'. However, there are frequent word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text. Phrases like 'Yesterday, I have been throught your concert' and 'star from the stone' are unnatural and impede natural expression. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'wonderfull', 'enjoied', 'widdings', 'to day', and 'inspering'. These limitations restrict your lexical score to a band 5.0, as the vocabulary is minimally adequate but features noticeable errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Even, my father is also your die-heart fan' and 'i know that you were singing a song at birthday parties...'. However, your writing contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and aspect, such as 'Yesterday, I have been throught your concert' (instead of 'Yesterday, I went to...'). Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, with lowercase 'i' used frequently and run-on sentences joined by commas instead of proper conjunctions or full stops. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a band 5.0 level of grammatical accuracy.
