Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You successfully expressed your admiration for the performance, mentioning specific highlights such as blending traditional music with modern styles. You also outlined your musical activities by explaining that you run an event management company in Mumbai and work with Bollywood personalities. Finally, you explained how you would like the singer to help by collaborating to create a variety of musical activities to diversify business opportunities. However, the mention of 'Dumb Charades games' seems slightly out of place in a concert context and the tone shifts toward business networking rather than a pure fan letter, which keeps the task achievement around a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a clear overall structure with an appropriate salutation and sign-off. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, starting with your feelings about the performance, moving to your business background, and finally proposing a collaboration. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Another point', 'Furthermore', and 'Secondly' are used, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical or awkward, such as 'Another point, I was the lucky winner'. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters due to abrupt shifts in ideas. Overall, the arrangement satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'extraordinary', 'eminent personalities', and 'diversify'. However, there are notable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as writing 'hip-pop' instead of 'hip-hop', 'oppportunities' with a triple 'p', and awkward phrasing like 'outperformed among the other band singers'. Additionally, phrases like 'biggest fan' combined with a business pitch create slight register inconsistencies. These lexical errors and limitations place your vocabulary performance at a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing this letter to express...' and 'I will be happy collaborate with your music band...'. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing prepositions and incorrect verb forms, such as 'I will be happy collaborate' (missing 'to'), 'It was always delightful to listen you sing' (missing 'to'), and 'I will be look forward' (incorrect tense/form). Punctuation errors also appear, such as comma splices ('...games is amazing, its a excellent way...'). Because these errors occur regularly but do not prevent understanding, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.
