Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the letter prompt. You cover how you feel about the performance by mentioning that you went to the concert in London and thought he sang heart-touching songs. You also provide details of your musical activities by explaining that you perform in small town cafes and play all musical instruments. Finally, you explain how you would like him to help you with your musical activities by inviting him to your upcoming album release. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, your musical activities and the request for help are somewhat limited and lack specific detail. To move to a higher level, you should expand further on how you would like him to assist you, perhaps by asking for mentorship or a specific collaboration on a track.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement, and the reader can easily follow the sequence of your points, moving from your feelings about the concert to your own musical background and finally to your invitation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate your ideas into distinct sections. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. You rely heavily on simple connectors and direct phrasing, and referencing is not always clear, such as the sudden shift between ideas without smooth transitional phrases. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural and connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to complete the task, successfully communicating your message about the concert and your musical aspirations. There are several spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a limited range, such as 'perfomed', 'perfomance', 'groud', 'inspireation', 'begining', and 'insturements'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they show noticeable inaccuracies in less common lexical items. To reach a higher standard, you should expand your vocabulary with more precise and uncommon terms, pay closer attention to standard spelling rules, and ensure that word forms and collocations are used more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as when you combine clauses using words like 'because' and 'and'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('biggest fan', 'first music releasing day'), preposition errors ('went your concert'), and tense inconsistencies ('nowadays I am hard working same like your begining days'). These errors persist throughout the letter, but they rarely impede communication. To improve your grammar score, you should focus on increasing your control over complex sentence structures, ensuring correct verb tenses, and polishing your punctuation and article usage to produce more error-free sentences.
