Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You successfully cover all parts of the communicative task by addressing the singer, expressing your feelings about his performance, mentioning your musical background, and stating how you would like him to help you. However, some aspects are more fully addressed than others, placing your response at this level. For instance, while your feelings about the concert are clearly stated as you mention experiencing 'goose bumps,' your musical activities are described in a somewhat generalised way, noting that you 'have worked in many musical shows' and participated in events without providing deeper specific details. To reach a higher standard, you should fully develop all your ideas with richer explanations and clearer contextual support, ensuring every bullet point is explored with equal depth and precision.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure that follows standard informal correspondence conventions, including an appropriate opening and closing. You effectively divide your ideas into distinct paragraphs, separating your concert impressions, musical background, and future aspirations. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical or repetitive in how sentences are linked. For example, expressions like 'while listening your song over there' and the frequent use of transition phrases show an adequate flow, but referencing and transitions can occasionally feel slightly disjointed. To achieve a higher band, you would need to employ a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and flexibly, ensuring that the progression of ideas from one paragraph to the next feels seamless and completely unobtrusive to the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'energetic,' 'opportunity,' and 'correlated.' However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies that prevent a higher score, such as writing 'those concert' instead of 'this concert' or 'listening your song' instead of 'listening to your song.' Additionally, you rely on simpler vocabulary like 'very big fan' and 'good knowledge,' and there are minor phrasing awkwardness instances like 'feel you disappointed.' To improve your lexical score, you need to focus on precise collocations, more natural word forms, and a wider variety of sophisticated, less common lexical items deployed with greater accuracy and stylistic awareness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures like 'If I get a chance to do a work with you, I will definitely take this opportunity.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout your text, including preposition omissions like 'listening your song,' article errors such as 'to the concert,' and tense inconsistencies like 'it reminded my past' instead of 'reminded me of my past.' Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication. To move up to a higher band, you must demonstrate a greater variety of complex structures with improved accuracy, producing a higher proportion of error-free sentences and showing tighter control over prepositions, articles, and verb complementation.
