Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. Arijit singh,
I am writing this letter to express my feelings about your concert which I have attended last week in Ahmedabad. My name is Himanshi Patel. I am a big fan of your singling since childhood time.
It was really a amazing experience of mine. In addition, when I heard your voice live it was such a great feeling. It was my first experience to attend your live performance and it was really worth it.
I did so many activities there, such as I recorded your beautiful videos and took picture. Moreover, I also clicked a selfies to keep it as a memory.
Singing a song is also my hobby. I would like to request you to help me by helping me to improve my confidence. I also started performing live musical activities during small family get together, however I get very nervous when I perform in front of audience so I want to learn how to connect with people.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Himanshi Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three bullet points: you describe enjoying the live performance, mention recording videos and taking photos, and ask for help with confidence and connecting with an audience. The request is especially relevant and personal, supported by your experience performing at family gatherings. The praise is clear, but it could be developed further with a specific detail about what made the singer’s voice or performance memorable. Your musical activities are also described mainly as concert activities; adding more about your own singing practice or how often you perform would make that part fuller. The letter is recognisably addressed to the singer and has an appropriate closing, though a more direct, polished opening would strengthen its purpose.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your reason for writing, describe the concert, mention activities, and then make your request. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and connectors such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “however” show attempts to link ideas. At times, though, the links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. For example, “I did so many activities there” shifts from describing the concert to listing photos and videos, while “however” joins ideas that would be clearer as separate sentences. The progression is understandable, but smoother transitions and more precise referencing would make the letter easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate your admiration and request, including “live performance,” “confidence,” and “connect with people.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “a great feeling,” although some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “Singling” appears to be a misspelling of “singing,” and “a selfies” has an incorrect form; “took picture” is also not idiomatic. Phrases such as “childhood time” and “small family get together” could be expressed more naturally. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but more accurate collocations and word forms would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including “when I heard your voice live” and the sentence explaining that you feel nervous performing before an audience. Most ideas remain clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “which I have attended last week” combines a finished past-time expression with the present perfect; “It was really a amazing experience” has an article error; and “I also started performing … however I get very nervous” needs clearer punctuation and tense control. There are also issues with singular and plural forms in “took picture” and “a selfies.” Greater accuracy with articles, tense choices, and sentence punctuation would improve control.
