Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear Sakshi,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter regarding my feedback about your last concert in Surrey. First of all, I was to excited in order to see you live on stage. Moreover, I really enjoyed lot when you started to sing my favourate song Adaat. In tandem with this, I also did some musical activities with my friends such as dance, singing and videography. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to click a selfie with you due to your tight security rules. In addition, I also posted multiple photos and videos on instagram realted to your performance. Lastly, My experiance was really great about your Surrey concert due to your amazing performance and it was worthfull to invest money on tickets.

I hope you to see you soon for the next time and I look forward to your prompt response.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You clearly express enjoyment of the concert, mentioning that you were excited to see the singer live and liked hearing “Adaat.” You also give some information about activities with friends and posting concert media. However, the task’s three points are not all adequately addressed: your musical activities are listed briefly, and you do not explain how you would like the singer to help you with them. The selfie and security detail takes space without advancing the requested points. The letter therefore responds only partially, with limited development. To improve, describe your own musical involvement more specifically and make a direct, practical request—for example, asking for advice, a workshop, or feedback on your singing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter has a recognisable opening and closing, and its ideas are generally understandable. Connectors such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “In addition” show an attempt to organise the message, but they are used mechanically and do not always signal a clear relationship between ideas. The paragraph moves from praise to activities, then to a selfie and social-media posts, before returning to the concert experience, so the progression is not consistently focused. The final request is also missing, leaving the letter without a clear purpose-driven conclusion. Group the performance feedback, your musical activities, and your request in a logical order, and use fewer, more precise linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “live on stage,” “performance,” and “musical activities.” There are also attempts at more expressive phrasing, such as “worthfull to invest money on tickets,” although this is not a natural collocation. Several spelling and word-choice errors—“favourate,” “realted,” “experiance,” and “whises”—are noticeable, and phrases such as “enjoyed lot” and “in tandem with this” are awkward or unsuitable in context. These choices make the letter less fluent, though its general meaning remains accessible. Aim for accurate, natural expressions and check spelling; for example, say that you “really enjoyed hearing” the song and that the concert was “well worth the ticket price.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and longer sentences, and most of the message can be understood. However, errors in sentence construction and verb forms recur. For example, “I was to excited in order to see you” should be “I was so excited to see you,” while “I hope you to see you soon” has an incorrect verb pattern. “I really enjoyed lot” also lacks the required object or adverbial form, and the closing sentence combines ideas awkwardly. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “My” and “instagram.” Practise common patterns such as “hope to see,” “enjoyed it a lot,” and “look forward to hearing from you,” then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed structure.
