Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing great after such an amazing performance in the 'Hologram of Sidhu Moosewala'. I am writing to you to express my feelings about the yesterday's concert. Actually, I never enjoyed a concert like I did the 'Hologram of Sidhu Moosewala'. Undoubtedly, every singer performed very well, and turned the arena into full entertainment; however, your performance was next level, and it was amazing.
When you stepped onto the stage, the audience was extremely happy. Every guest who was present there was waiting for your turn, and wanted to enjoy and listen your iconic songs. The way you composed your songs, made you stand you out from the other artists. Despite having the sorethroat, the songs you sang were the best ones on that night, giving the audience moments of full enjoyment to the audience.
Even though I practise a lot on my music and on writing songs, I struggle to produce my best. I always feels underconfident whenever I perform on the stage. If you help me to overcome this fear, I will be grateful to you lifelong.
I really need your support to tackle this challenge, and I hope you will help me soon.
Kind regards,
Abhishek Kumar.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three points: you praise the singer’s performance, describe your own practice and songwriting, and ask for help overcoming stage fear. The concert details, such as the audience waiting for the singer and the performance despite a sore throat, make your appreciation clear. However, the request for support is less fully explained: you ask for help with confidence but do not specify what form of guidance you hope to receive, such as feedback, coaching, or advice on performing. Your musical activities are also mentioned briefly rather than developed with concrete details. Expanding these two points would make the letter more complete and purposeful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it opens with your reaction to the concert, adds details about the performance, then moves to your own musical experience and request. Paragraphing helps the reader follow this progression, and linking expressions such as “however,” “Even though,” and “If” connect ideas. To make the flow more consistently smooth, reduce repetition and clarify a few references. For example, “audience” is repeated twice in the same sentence, and “your turn” could be made more explicit as the singer’s turn to perform. The final request also repeats the idea of needing support without adding a new detail. More precise referencing and less repetitive linking would strengthen cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to express enthusiasm and describe music, including “iconic songs,” “composed,” and “underconfident.” Some less common expressions are attempted, but several choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “turned the arena into full entertainment,” “the yesterday’s concert,” and “moments of full enjoyment.” “Next level” is understandable but informal for this letter, while “sorethroat” is incorrectly written as one word. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they limit naturalness and precision. Aim for familiar, accurate collocations—for example, say the performance “created an electric atmosphere” and that the audience “thoroughly enjoyed” the songs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession with “Even though” and a conditional request beginning “If you help me…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. Examples include “I always feels” instead of “I always feel,” “listen your iconic songs” instead of “listen to your iconic songs,” and the awkward article and possessive construction in “the yesterday’s concert.” In “made you stand you out,” the repeated pronoun disrupts the sentence structure. There is also a punctuation issue in the long sentence about the sore throat, where the repeated reference to the audience makes the construction difficult to follow. Proofreading agreement, prepositions, and sentence structure would improve accuracy.
