Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear singh,
The intent of this correspondence is to bring this matter to your attention and seek an appropriate resolution.
Regarding this matter, I would like to highlight a few important observations.I attented your recent concert, which was take place on 1 october 2026, at square one ground in toronto. I was so happy and delighted to attend your concert. On top of that when you sang a song ''Meri aashiqui tum hi ho" was mesmerising and sounds so soothing. Literally, I had a goosebumps at that time.
I am so fond of music in general, but I am also great at playing piano. I joined a piano class when I was in seventh grade. I participated in many state and national level programme. I consider myself hardworking and playing piano is my passion from childhood. Furthermore, I really want to work with you for your next concert in London, Uk.
Resolve this matter satisfactorily, I would like to have a look on my video disc, which I posted to your office adress. That would be immensely beneficial if you give me a chance to join your live band for one day. That way I can show my talent to you, and working with a star like you that will be my fortune and my dream always.
I extend my appreciation for your consideration and I anticipate your valued response at your earliest convenience.
Yours Sincerely,
Maitri Bavarva

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you describe enjoying the singer’s performance, explain your piano background and participation in competitions, and ask to join his live band. The details about hearing “Meri Aashiqui Tum Hi Ho” and starting piano lessons in seventh grade make the letter relevant and personal. However, the request for help is not fully clear or well developed: you mention a future concert in London, then ask for a chance to join the band “for one day,” without explaining what specific support or opportunity you are seeking. The opening and closing also sound like a formal complaint rather than a fan letter. State your request directly and warmly, and explain what you hope to learn or contribute.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, with separate paragraphs for the concert, your musical experience, and your request. This helps the reader follow the main points. Some linking phrases, such as “Furthermore” and “That way,” connect ideas, but others feel mechanical or do not fit the message: “Regarding this matter” and “Resolve this matter satisfactorily” suggest a complaint or dispute. The transition from wanting to work at a London concert to asking to join the band for one day is also not fully explained. Use a straightforward opening, group related details together, and make the request the clear focus of the final paragraph. More natural links between your experience and your proposed opportunity would improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss music and your feelings, including “mesmerising,” “soothing,” “passion,” and “talent.” These choices help convey enthusiasm, and the reader can understand your main message. However, some expressions are inaccurate or overly formal for a personal letter. “Bring this matter to your attention,” “appropriate resolution,” and “valued response” sound like business correspondence, while “I had a goosebumps” and “look on my video disc” are not natural collocations. There are also spelling and capitalisation slips, such as “attented,” “adress,” and “Uk.” Choose familiar, natural phrases that suit writing to a singer, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “I attended your recent concert, which…” and “That way I can show my talent to you.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. In “which was take place,” the verb form is incorrect; use “which took place.” “I had a goosebumps” needs a different article and plural construction, such as “I got goosebumps.” There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary issues, including the missing space after “observations.” and the awkward opening “Resolve this matter satisfactorily, I would like…”. Review verb forms, articles, and how clauses are joined. More consistently accurate sentences would strengthen the letter.
