Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Anirudh,

I am writing to share my happiness to you when I watch your live tamil musical performance in the North Edmonton Onam concert held before a few days. It helps me to rejuvenate and refresh my mind according to your way of singing.

Apart from this, I am a person who loves singers and their way of singing. When I watch your programme in the concert I believes that I was living in a beautiful world with a lot of musical instruments. I was a bit stressed on that day due to my work pressure but suddenly my mood changes according to your way of singing and dancing.

From my childhood,I was practicing music and have a talent in singing songs related to fast track and traditional. Moreover,I have a band in canada with my friends who are interested in music.

I am a big fan of your musical performances and their choreography. Can you help me to give a support to my musical reels in the instagram platform? Likewise, it help me to share my musical skills to a number of children who have an interest in learning music.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Sree

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points in the task: you describe the positive effect of the singer’s performance, explain that you have practised singing since childhood and belong to a band, and ask for support with your Instagram music reels. The letter also has an appropriate greeting and closing, and your request is understandable. To make the ideas more fully extended and supported, add specific details—for example, what kind of support you hope the singer could provide, such as feedback, promotion, or advice, and what music your band performs. The description of the concert’s effect is clear but somewhat general, so a particular moment or song would make your appreciation more convincing and personal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you begin with your reaction to the concert, move to your musical background, and finish with your request and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these purposes, and expressions such as “Apart from this,” “Moreover,” and “Likewise” show an effort to connect ideas. However, some links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely; for instance, “Apart from this” introduces related information about your interest in music rather than a distinct contrast. The first two paragraphs also repeat the singer’s effect on your mood. To strengthen progression, use fewer, more precise transitions and make each paragraph develop a distinct point, with the request clearly connected to your musical goals.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range to communicate your enthusiasm and musical background, including “rejuvenate,” “traditional,” “musical performances,” and “choreography.” These choices show an attempt to use vocabulary beyond basic expressions, and the reader can understand your main message. Some phrases, however, are unnatural or imprecise, such as “share my happiness to you,” “I am a person who loves singers,” and “give a support to my musical reels.” “Fast track” is also unclear as a description of the songs you sing. Aim for natural collocations and more precise terms for your musical style and the help you want. Check spelling and capitalisation too, including “Instagram” and “Canada,” to make the writing more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the letter. For example, “when I watch your live … performance” needs a past-tense form to match the concert, while “I believes” should be “I believed.” In “my mood changes,” the tense should also reflect the past event. The sentence beginning “Can you help me to give a support…” has an unclear grammatical structure, and “it help me” needs subject–verb agreement. There are also missing spaces after punctuation and inconsistent comma use. Practise accurate past-tense narration and build the request with a clear structure, such as asking whether the singer could support or promote your reels.
