Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you praise the concert, describe attending with your husband and taking guitar classes, and ask for an opportunity to play with the singer. Details such as enjoying the concert from 6 to 10 and learning guitar make the letter personal and relevant. However, the request for help is not fully clear: “if i get chance to play with you” suggests a wish to perform together, but does not explain what specific support or guidance you want. Some details, including the hotel and the singer’s usual guitar performances, receive more space than your musical activities or the help you are seeking. Develop those two points more directly to make the response more complete and focused.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: you describe the concert, add comments about the music, explain that you are learning guitar, and close with a hope to meet again. Paragraph breaks help separate these topics. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several ideas are joined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the opening moves from the visit to Winnipeg to the hotel, ticket booking, and your husband without clear sentence boundaries. Connectors such as “also” and “apart from this” are repeated or used awkwardly, and references such as “them” in “play with them” are unclear. Use shorter sentences and clearer links between each task point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “concert,” “performance,” “guitar classes,” and “favourite guitar,” so the reader can understand the main subject and your enthusiasm. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the letter harder to interpret, such as “suplendidly,” “osm,” “musicsl,” and “commuting people.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “your voice your performance is always” and “like as a your songs.” Choose familiar words accurately rather than attempting unclear expressions, and check spelling carefully. More precise language for your musical activities and the assistance you want would make the letter clearer and more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas and use different time references, including the past concert, your current guitar lessons, and a future meeting. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but sentence structure and verb forms are often inaccurate. Examples include “Hope your doing” instead of “I hope you’re doing,” “you came … You stay,” and “i visit that i bookked ticket.” Several clauses run together without full stops, and articles and prepositions are sometimes missing or misplaced. These errors can make the reader pause, especially in the opening paragraph. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense consistency and punctuation when describing past events.
