Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to give you a feedback on your performance in a concert which took place in "Khyber Hall" on the occasion of cultural day.
I was surprised to see such an astonishing performance, specially playing Piano was beyond my expectations and it gives me hope that I can be the coming top performer of Piano in our country.
I am learning playing different musical instruments like Piano, Guitar on every weekend and I also participated in province wise competition in which I got ist prize.
I want to be the best guitarist of the country and want to participate in international competition, that's why I want you to taught me playing a single song in multiple rates and rhythm so that I can attract crowd attention and make our nation proud in guitar competition, which is going to held in coming September.
It is therefore requested in your honour to give some time to help me improve my skills.I shall be thankful to you.
Yours sincerely,
Asad

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you praise the singer’s piano performance, describe learning piano and guitar and winning a provincial competition, and ask for help preparing for an upcoming guitar competition. The purpose is clear and the details make the request relevant. The performance reaction and musical background are reasonably specific, while the request for help is less fully explained: “teach me playing a single song in multiple rates and rhythm” does not make clear what kind of guidance or practice you want. The letter also shifts between piano and guitar, so clarify which instrument and goal you want the singer to support. More precise development of that request would make the response feel more complete and purposeful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible overall order: it opens with the reason for writing, describes the concert, gives your musical background, and ends with a request and polite closing. This makes the message easy to follow. Some links between ideas are mechanical, particularly “It is therefore requested,” and the long sentence beginning “I want to be the best guitarist” combines your ambition, request, intended effect, and competition date without clear breaks. The shift from praising piano playing to asking for guitar help also needs a clearer transition. Use separate paragraphs for the concert, your activities, and your request, and divide the long sentence so each point has a clear focus.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the letter and make some effective choices, including “astonishing performance,” “province wise competition,” and “attract crowd attention.” These phrases communicate enthusiasm and ambition, although several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural in context. For example, “give you a feedback” is not the usual phrasing, “multiple rates and rhythm” is unclear, and “coming top performer” does not sound idiomatic. Spelling and word-form control also need attention in “specially” and “ist.” Aim for natural collocations and precise musical terms; this would make your meaning more fluent and help you express the request confidently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the reason clause “which is going to held in coming September” and the purpose clause “so that I can attract crowd attention.” The main message remains understandable, but some errors in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “I want you to taught me” should use the base verb after “to,” and “I am learning playing” needs a different verb pattern. In “which is going to held,” the passive form is incomplete. The long sentence about your ambition and request also needs clearer punctuation. Practise verb patterns and future/passive forms, then check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
