Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The letter conveys enthusiasm for the singer, especially in saying the music motivates you during exercise, and it mentions playing an instrument at the concert. However, the task is only minimally addressed because two key points are missing or unclear: you do not describe your regular musical activities, and you never explain what help you want from the singer. The sentence about playing an instrument “that day on your concert” is difficult to interpret and does not establish what you currently do musically. To make the purpose clear, describe your instrument, practice or performances, then make a specific request—for example, advice, a lesson, or feedback on your playing. A clearer account of the performance itself would also strengthen the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic letter structure, with a greeting, several paragraphs, and a closing, and the ideas are generally grouped around the concert and the singer’s music. However, there is no clear progression towards the requested purpose: the paragraphs repeat admiration and the effect of the songs, while the request for help is absent. Linking phrases such as “In additional” and “after that” do not always show the relationship between ideas accurately, and the final thanks and sign-off arrive without a clear request or concluding purpose. Organise the letter in task order: describe the performance, explain your own musical activities, and then state how the singer could help.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “concert,” “instrument,” “fan,” and “inspired,” which makes the general topic understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, particularly the repeated references to “your music,” and several word choices or forms are inaccurate enough to make parts less clear, such as “lovely music concert,” “importanat dream,” and “more energatic.” Some expressions also sound unnatural, including “I am big fan” and “music which is sing by yourself.” Choose more precise phrases for the performance and your musical interests, and check spelling and common collocations. For instance, you could describe the performance as “captivating” and say that you “play the guitar in a local group.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The letter relies mainly on short, simple statements, with a few attempts to connect ideas using clauses such as “when I did exercise” and “which is sing by yourself.” These attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “I am writing … for came,” “I really happy,” “I also play some music instrument,” and “Few of your songs are inspired me.” Practise complete sentence patterns and consistent verb forms: for example, “I am writing to thank you for coming,” and “A few of your songs have inspired me.” More accurate sentences and a wider range of controlled structures would improve clarity.
