Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir,
I, Tax Prajapati, one of your fan writing this letter to inform you that yesterday I attended your concert held in Saddledome. I am grateful for the discount your team offered to all the university students.
When I attended your concert, I really felt amazed as your team managed all the stuffs really well. I was really exicted as you were in front of me as well as I felt happy when I was allowed to take a selfie with you.
Moreover, since last year I started learning guitar and i would really appreciate If you can help me with the same. I am learning it as it is one of my dream as well as i am arranging an event which will help me collect money for the needy one.
Furthermore, I saw guitar in your hand yesterday and I request you to teach me during your leisure time. Additionally, it would be great if you can allow me to attend all your events so I can learn how to impress the audience.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be really grateful for your assistance.
Yours sincerely,
Tax

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you describe being amazed and happy at the concert, mention learning guitar and organising a fundraising event, and ask for lessons and access to the singer’s events. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you say you want to learn guitar but give little detail about your current experience or what specific guidance would help; the request to attend “all your events” is also broad. The opening “Dear sir” is rather impersonal for writing to a singer whose performance you have just attended. A more personal greeting and a clearer, more specific request would make the letter feel more complete and appropriately directed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce the concert, describe your reaction, explain your musical activities, and then make requests before closing politely. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” signal the movement between ideas. This gives the response a coherent progression. At times, however, the connectors feel mechanical, and several ideas are joined in long sentences with repeated “as well as” or “Additionally.” The relationship between your fundraising event and your guitar learning could also be made clearer. Use fewer, more natural transitions and separate distinct points into shorter sentences to make the links between ideas smoother and more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “performance,” “assistance,” “consideration,” and “impress the audience.” The tone is generally polite, and the reader can understand your enthusiasm and requests. However, some noticeable word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems reduce naturalness: “one of your fan,” “all the stuffs,” “exicted,” and “the needy one” are not appropriate forms or expressions in this context. “I felt amazed” and “teach me during your leisure time” are understandable but could be expressed more naturally. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and plural forms. More precise language for your musical experience and the help you seek would also make the letter more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, for example, “I am learning it as it is one of my dream as well as I am arranging an event…” This shows an effort to connect related ideas, and the overall meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly in sentence structure, articles, agreement, and capitalisation. The opening sentence is missing a finite verb after “I, Tax Prajapati,” and “one of your fan” needs a plural noun with an article. In “since last year I started learning,” the time expression and tense do not fit naturally together. Lowercase “i” and “if” after a sentence boundary also affect accuracy. Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement, articles, tense, and punctuation before submitting.
