Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you praise the singer’s performance, describe your musical experience, and ask for help developing your piano skills. The admiration is clear in comments such as “you are still the best,” and your work as a musician at a nightclub gives relevant context for your request. However, some details are less fully developed. Your concert experience is mentioned through a list of venues, but it is not clear whether these were performances you attended or concerts in which you participated. The request also focuses on recommending a music school; you could explain more specifically what kind of guidance or support you hope the singer can provide. Clarifying these points would make the letter more complete and purposeful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you begin with your reaction to the concert, move to your musical background, and finish with your request and closing. This sequence helps the reader follow your purpose. Paragraphing also separates the main topics appropriately. However, some connections between ideas are abrupt, particularly the shift from listing hotels to saying that the singer is the best. Linking phrases could make the progression smoother, and the long first paragraph would benefit from clearer sentence boundaries. The closing request and sign-off are understandable, though the final lines could be presented more cleanly. Overall, the organisation is coherent, but cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of relevant vocabulary for music and performance, including “admiration,” “performance,” “musician,” and “enhance my skill.” These choices make your purpose clear and show some ambition beyond basic vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the piano voice,” “very relaxing hearing,” and “keen at it.” Spelling errors such as “accompained,” “recommened,” and “greateful” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common combinations such as “play the piano beautifully” and “recommend a music school,” and check spelling carefully. More precise, natural phrasing would help you express your appreciation and request with greater fluency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the explanation of your current work and the conditional request, “I would appreciate if you could…” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb patterns. For example, “all the audience were” has an agreement problem, while “I saw you performing a piano” needs a more accurate structure. The opening paragraph also joins several ideas with full stops or no clear punctuation, making the sentences difficult to control. Practise forming complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and articles. Greater accuracy in these areas, alongside your existing sentence variety, would strengthen the letter.
