Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Arijit,
I am writing this letter to compliment your concert which was held at Ahmedabad on October 15th, and describe how amazing it was.
It was first time for me at attend any live concert, and I personally loved your performace. It was really amazing to witness the concert with 20 thousand attendees and experience the cheers of them.
Moreover, I really liked how the whole performace was designed starting with the lightshow and then dance performace along with your impacable singing. Additionally, how the songs were picked up, starting with slow songs and then gradually transtioning to more energetics ones.
I would love to connect with you anytime after your tour is over. Apparently, I also love to write lyrics of emotional songs. I would really appreciate if you can guide me to transition into more variety of songs. And also provide with your valuable feedback of my past work.
Regards,
Dharmik Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you praise the concert, mention your interest in writing emotional lyrics, and ask for guidance and feedback. The description of the performance is the strongest part, with details about the audience, lighting, dancing, and the order of the songs. This gives the letter a clear personal focus. However, your musical activities are only briefly explained, and the request for help could be more specific—for example, what experience you have writing lyrics or what kind of feedback you hope to receive. The response therefore covers the task, but some points are less fully developed than others. Adding a little detail about your own musical work would make the purpose of the letter more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is organised in a clear sequence: you introduce the concert, describe what you enjoyed, and then explain how you would like the singer to help. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Additionally,” and “And also” help connect your points. The overall message is easy to follow. At times, however, the links feel somewhat mechanical, and the final paragraph moves quickly from wanting to connect to writing lyrics and requesting feedback. You could improve the flow by grouping your musical background and request more smoothly, and by varying the transitions rather than repeatedly adding another point. The opening and closing are appropriate for a personal letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the event and your reaction, including “attendees,” “cheers,” “lightshow,” and “emotional songs.” These choices make the letter personal and generally clear. There are also several spelling errors, including “performace,” “impacable,” and “transtioning,” and some phrases are not quite natural, such as “compliment your concert” and “more energetics ones.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for describing performances and musical development. More precise wording would help you express your enthusiasm and your request in a more fluent, natural way.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and the meaning is generally clear. For example, the sentence describing the songs moving from slow to energetic ones attempts to show a sequence, while “I would really appreciate if you can guide me” expresses a polite request. Some grammatical errors remain, however. “It was first time for me at attend” has problems with the article and verb pattern; “I would really appreciate if” needs “it” after “appreciate”; and “provide with your valuable feedback” is missing an object before “with.” The sentence beginning “Additionally, how the songs were picked up” is also a fragment. Review these patterns and make sure each sentence has a complete main clause.
