Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three required points: you praise the singer’s concert performance, describe your own musical activities, and ask for help developing your skills. Details such as attending the concert at Rogers Arena and belonging to a jazz band make the message personal and relevant. Your request is also specific, particularly your interest in learning stage performance and managing an audience during a long set. To make the ideas more fully developed, explain briefly what you currently do in the band or what particular skill you most need to improve. The purpose and appreciative tone remain clear throughout, although a little more explanation would make the request feel more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The three main paragraphs follow a sensible order: your reaction to the concert, your musical background, and your request for assistance. This gives the letter a clear overall progression, and phrases such as “As i told you” connect the request to your earlier praise. However, some linking is repetitive, especially the repeated use of “I also,” and the final paragraph repeats that you are a fan and want help without adding much new information. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make the relationship between your experience and your learning goals clearer. The closing is appropriate, though the letter would flow more smoothly with less repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “singing,” “music instruments,” “jazz music band,” and “stage performances.” The reader can understand your enthusiasm and musical interests. However, several spelling errors and unnatural word combinations reduce precision, including “writting,” “comprtitions,” “eagrly,” and “polish my skills.” Phrases such as “put magical feeling in music” and “get attention from audience” are understandable but not idiomatic. Aim to learn common collocations for describing performances and musical development, and check spelling carefully. More precise phrasing would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately appreciative.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The letter uses mostly straightforward sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine ideas, for example, “I would like you to help me to polish my skills” and the clause describing the concert. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in verb forms, articles, capitalization, and sentence construction occur across the response. For instance, “I attend your live concert” needs a past-tense form, and “I also take part … and win prize” has inconsistent verb tense and number. The opening “Hope you are doing well” is also a fragment in this context. Practise accurate past-tense narration and complete sentence structures, then proofread for articles and agreement. Greater control of these basics would make your message easier to read.
