- explain how you would like him to help you with your musical activities
You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear .................. ,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Atif,
I am writing this letter to tell you that i attended your concert yesterday and it was magical. I had some friends with me, it was their first time hearing you and they were mesmerized by your voice. One of the best parts was i was singing along as i knew all of your songs but my friends were amazed as they know quite a few song but didn't know the singer.
One of the reason to write is letter is that i have arranged a charity musical night for under privileged children on Christmas eve. Our main motive is to provide some help to people in need so they can also celebrate christmas like we do. I have already sold half a stadium and it's still time to event but we encountered one problem. Our lead vocalist is in hospital due to an accident and doctors mention he won't be able to sing for event that soon. Therefore, it will be really helpful if you can come to the event as our lead vocalist and make our event a success.
It will be a beneficial event for all of us as our respected Mayor patrick brown is also coming for that event and this will be broadcasted in all over canada. Please let me know if you're available for this event.
Sincerely,
Archi shah

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you describe the concert as “magical,” mention singing along, and explain your charity event and request for Atif to perform. The request is clear and supported with context about the lead vocalist’s accident and the event’s purpose. This gives the letter a relevant, persuasive core. However, the musical activities you describe are not fully developed: beyond knowing and singing the songs, you give little detail about your own musical role or experience. The request also focuses on asking him to sing at the event, rather than explaining more specifically how his involvement would help your musical activities. Developing those details would make the response more complete and sustained.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it opens with your reaction to the concert, moves to the charity event and request, and closes by asking for a reply. Paragraphing supports this progression, and links such as “One of the reason to write” and “Therefore” help show how the ideas connect. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The first paragraph’s shift from your enjoyment to your friends’ reaction is understandable but the sentence is crowded, while “It will be a beneficial event for all of us” does not clearly explain who “all of us” refers to. More controlled sentence division and clearer referencing would make the progression more consistently easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a personal letter, including expressive choices such as “magical” and “mesmerized,” as well as relevant terms such as “charity musical night” and “lead vocalist.” These help communicate enthusiasm and the event’s purpose. There are also some inaccurate or awkward word choices and collocations, including “sold half a stadium” and “it’s still time to event,” which make parts of the message less natural. “Under privileged” and “christmas” also show spelling or capitalization slips. Aim for more precise event-related phrasing and check compound words and proper nouns. The meaning remains clear overall, but more consistent control would make the vocabulary more fluent and appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “as i knew all of your songs” and a reason clause explaining the vocalist’s absence. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “One of the reason to write is letter” has problems with number and article use, and “doctors mention he won't be able to sing for event” needs more accurate tense and article choices. Capitalization of “i” and punctuation around the long first-paragraph sentence also need attention. Breaking that sentence into shorter units and checking articles, plurals, and verb forms would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
